About Us

My name is Justin Jiang, a high school student with an unwavering passion for increasing access to STEM education. I firmly believe that every child should have equal opportunities to pursue their interests and unlock their full potential.

My journey towards advocating for STEM education began with a personal experience that deeply impacted me. As a young student, I had limited exposure to STEM subjects due to the lack of resources and opportunities in my community. However, a chance encounter with a STEM workshop opened my eyes to the wonders of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. I was captivated by the learning experiences and the creative problem-solving skills that STEM fostered. This transformative moment ignited a fire within me to ensure that every child, regardless of their background, could experience the same sense of awe and possibility that I had felt.

Access to quality STEM education is not only crucial for individual growth but also for building a strong and innovative society. STEM skills are essential for tackling the challenges of our rapidly changing world, from climate change to advancements in technology. Yet, many students from underprivileged backgrounds face barriers that limit their access to these opportunities. This perpetuates existing social inequalities and deprives them of a fair chance to pursue their passions.

Motivated by the urgency of this issue, I have embarked on a mission to make a meaningful impact through my project, STEM Philadelphia. My primary goal is to raise funds and collaborate with local communities, educators, and organizations to establish sustainable programs that bring STEM education to low-income schools in Philadelphia. By providing resources, mentorship, and hands-on experiences, we can empower students to develop their critical thinking, problem-solving, and innovation skills.

In my pursuit of increasing access to STEM education, I am deeply committed to promoting inclusivity. I recognize that privilege and systemic barriers intersect, hindering the educational opportunities of underprivileged students. To address this, STEM Philadelphia will prioritize supporting schools in low-income areas, ensuring that those who have been historically marginalized receive the support they need to excel in STEM.

By investing in STEM education for underprivileged students, we not only break down barriers but also foster a diverse and talented STEM workforce that represents the true richness of our society. We have an opportunity to create a future where everyone can contribute to scientific discovery, technological advancements, and transformative innovation.

In conclusion, my personal journey and unwavering belief in equal access to STEM education drive my passion to make a difference. Through STEM Philadelphia, I aim to raise funds, collaborate with local communities, and establish sustainable programs that empower underprivileged students in Philadelphia. Together, we can unlock their potential, inspire their curiosity, and pave the way for a brighter future filled with endless possibilities.
